Lucina Kathmann is an International Vice-president of PEN and former chair of PEN's Women Writers Committee. Born in the United States, she has lived for the last 33 years in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where she is secretary of the San Miguel PEN Center. She writes in both Spanish and English, principally essays and short stories. Her most recent book, A Forest of Mathematics, presents mathematical topics in the form of "everyday" problems in an imaginary forest where the head mathematician is a bear.
