Jiro Asada - President Pen Japan

 

Jiro Asada was born in 1951 in Tokyo. He won the 16th Yoshikawa Eiji Prize for New Writers for Metro ni Notte, the 117th Naoki Prize for Poppoya,. He continues to charm large numbers of readers with works written in diverse styles, including Sokyu no Subaru (The Firmament of the Pleiades), which is written on a grand scale, the heart-warming collection of short stories Kasumicho Monogatari, and others. Some of his many recent works include Happy Retirement and Owarazaru Natsu. He is the president of the Japan P.E.N. Club.
